Day to Night Outfits: A/W 2017

Hey internet friends! Today I bring to you one of my first of many fashion posts – it’s been something that I have wanted to do for a long time, and seeing it’s been two years since I have started my blog – I thought the timing was right!

In Australia, it’s heading into summer (unfortunately – winter is my favorite season!) but I thought I would share with you my favorite day to night outfits – these can be changed up simultaneously with different items depending on the weather, but they have all been go-to for the beginnings of my capsule wardrobe, which I have started developing recently (if you don’t know anything about capsule wardrobe’s, Lucy Moon’s newest video is really good!)

I have two outfits that have been probably my ‘most worn’ this season – although I do interchange the coats a fair bit (anyone that has seen my instagram would know that I often wear faux fur quite a bit!) – the day that I was shooting was close to 27 degrees…. wasn’t exactly the proper fur coat weather!

All the photos are by the lovely Geena Glass! You can check out her instagram here and her website here!

Outfit One: Cosy + Casual

First off – how cool is this red roller door? I feel like I sort of went with the whole ‘red theme’ (shoutout to Taylor Swift!) for this outfit. Culottes have been one of my favourite base pieces to transition into autumn/winter season. Mine are from Zara (they are currently in stock in Red, Navy + Black) but most stores on the high street will stock them too. I like these ones particularly because they cut at my ankle, something that is rare for being petite (usually I have to get stuff hemmed!). I paired the culottes with a red striped tee from Pull & Bear, which I picked up in Shanghai over the winter break. The best thing about culottes is that I can style them for all the seasons, you can pair it with a short-sleeved tee + a coat or just a tee for the summer season!

My other favourite accessory is a good sneaker,  I am wearing my Commé Des Garçons collaboration with converse in the cream colour (they also come in Navy). It’s ‘dressy’ enough to still look put together but casual enough to still look effortless. Plus, they’re super comfortable!

Add… A Leather Jacket + Statement Rings

My favourite way to make this outfit a little more dressy (and to be able to wear out to a nice dinner!) is adding an embellished leather jacket + some statement rings. My leather jacket is from Zara (it’s one of the three leather jackets I own, although I am looking at investing in an All Saints one) – I really love the embroidery on the back!

My other favourite way to accessorise is with rings (and earrings!). Although I don’t take mine off (like, ever.) – statement rings are an essential in getting a complete look. The one on my left hand is from Gucci and the heart ring on my right is from Pandora, and the one above it is a family ring!

Outfit Two: Preppy

This one is more for the sunnier days of the Autumn/Winter Season! I paired my black Zara knit short sleeved tee (which is one of my favourites!) with my Zara (clearly running with a theme here!) checked skort (yep, they are actually shorts!). Checked print, especially Prince of Wales Check, is coming back into fashion for the new season – it’s a subtle statement piece and goes with everything. My pair of shorts reminds me of something that Cher would wear on Clueless. I paired it again with my Commé Des Garçons x Converse again!

Add…. a longline blazer + a pair of boots + a cross-body bag

This is the more ‘night look’ out of the two – I love this longline blazer from Missguided, it’s taken me through this whole winter and is something that I wear to work on the weekly. I love the shape of the shorts and the longline blazer – a little bit seductive whilst still being classy. I paired the outfit with my new boots from Gorman which I picked up in the Seasonal Sale – I love the height of the heel, it’s enough to be able to walk around all day without feeling as if you are wearing high heels. My other favourite accessory is my Sandro Paris ‘Addict’ Bag in Black (and my Fendi Pom Pom) with gold hardware. It’s the perfect size for a night-out and can fit my wallet, two sets of keys as well as multiple lipsticks – it’s surprisingly roomy!
